Surveys and data collection
The City of Charlottesville Gas Safety Survey was conducted by the Center for Survey Research (CSR) at the University of Virginia on behalf of the Gas Distribution operations of the Public Utilities Division of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia. CSR used a Computer-Aided Telephone Interviewing (CATI) system to conduct interviews with both residential and business natural gas customers and non-customers. In addition, CSR interviewed representatives from companies that had performed excavation services within the natural gas service area of the City. This survey builds on prior surveys done in 2006 by another vendor and in 2010 by CSR. The intent of the survey was to support and test the impact of efforts to educate the public on natural gas safety issues. Additional questions about Energy Conservation were asked on behalf of the Charlottesville Energy Conservation Program.
