Clinical population of community health center(s) in Grand Bahama Island
Consulting, design, data entry, and analysis
This project was designed to ensure cultural appropriateness of instruments intended for pre-and-post testing of effectiveness of the "Diabetes Conversation Map Tool" as an intervention for diabetes self-management among clinic patients on Grand Bahama Island. CSR consulted on adaptation of the existing questionnaires and advised the research team on cognitive interviewing techniques. The Nursing School team carried out cognitive interviews in person with Charlottesville diabetes patients and then over the phone with patients on Grand Bahama Island, with direct coaching from CSR staff. CSR prepared a written report on the Charlottesville cognitive interviews. The interviews resulted in small but significant changes in question and response wording.
