CSR initiated the Jefferson Area Community Survey project in late 2011, and the first wave of the survey was fielded in January 2012. This is a recurrent, regional omnibus survey of the greater Charlottesville region, including the City of Charlottesville and the Counties of Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa and Nelson. The telephone study used a triple-frame sampling design (landline RDD, directory listed landlines phones, and cell phones) and over 1,000 interviews were completed. Local government agencies, non-profits, and University researchers may purchase questions on JACS. The first wave included questions about local development and transportation issues, public perceptions of public health issues, and questions about gas safety. CSR also released results of its own questions on the 2012 Presidential race, consumer confidence, and the controversial Western By-Pass road project.
